Hi, meet April! A small town native who has ventured and lived in three different states in the past three years. Her roots began in Monterrey, Mexico where her parents lived until they got married and decided to begin their new chapter of life together in Clinton, Oklahoma. Once in Clinton, they raised their three children. The oldest is a marine veteran and her twin sister is a behavior rehabilitation specialist and are both currently still in Oklahoma. April's first job was in her hometown as a delivery girl for her local pharmacy. This job actually sparked her initial interest in the real estate field. Being able to be inside of different homes and learning who the community was made up of, really made the job that much more fun. She was constantly seeing different styles of homes as well as homes that were similar, being used in completely different ways. April's alma mater is the University of Oklahoma. Not only did April receive her undergraduate degree from OU, she met her husband there! They met and became friends and later, became more when reconnecting closer to the end of their undergrad. Fun, fact! David, coincidentally, is also a twin! He is currently an Osprey pilot for the Marine Corps and is the reason behind all the previous relocations. April and David's first move to Florida is where real estate really started to become important in April's life. They purchased their first home in Milton, Florida. After searching the rental market for rentals within their budget, it became clear that buying a home was the smartest option that also ended up surprisingly saving them money. The Once knowing they'd be leaving soon and wanting to go even deeper into the world of real estate, they decided to turn their first home into a long term rental. Going through the process of researching property managers in the area and the process into getting the home long term rental ready, it became even more clear to April that this was something she would love to make a career. After Florida, April and her husband went to Texas for 6 months and then were on their way to North Carolina. The process for buying a home while out of state was certainly challenging and eye opening. With the help of their outstanding realtor, who went above and beyond to assist in every mannor, April and David bought their second home. This was a condo that needed some TLC as well as some upgrades. While April was taking her real estate courses throughout their stay in North Carolina, she also took on the job of doing the renovations. Once they knew they were set to be moving again, they decided to jump into the short term rental market. The condo was less than two miles from the beach and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. Because they were set to move to California, April decided this was the perfect time to take the leap and fully make the career change over to real estate. A new state meant a new job and why not make it the career change she's been wanting to do for years! Moving to California in the summer of 2021, April, David and their two rescues Oliver and Gilligan started their new chapter. After getting settled in, finishing her courses and passing her real estate exam, April was officially licensed in January 2022. April then joined Kara Courtney's team, True North Associates working under Windermere Homes & Estates that following March. Since moving to California, April has really taken on the California lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys trips to the beach and the mountains. The best of both worlds! April loves to hike and ski with her family and friends and has even taken up surfing. April is an avid supporter of animal rescues and charities as they brought her the other two loves of her life. For April, being a realtor is more than just a job, it's a way for her to make a difference and help people find a place to call home!
